DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

AHRI’s efforts to develop a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion are critical to attracting talent, employee engagement, and retention. As a global organization with operations in the U.S., China, Canada, and United Arab Emirates, it is imperative to organizational sustainability, that AHRI maintains an atmosphere where it is widely understood and agreed that all colleagues are welcome and able to thrive, equally.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

Some may ask – what does this have to do with AHRI?  It starts with our values. This wall was created by AHRI staff to describe the culture and values of AHRI and its staff.  What stands out is our values of Diversity & Inclusion, Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, and Compassion.

Our commitment to these values extends beyond the workplace.  Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we have prioritized the wellness of each other and our families.  We are now confronting a different threat – the bias that runs deep in our society. We are committed to ensuring AHRI is free from discrimination – and that you know that we will stand up for what is right inside our organization, so we can influence what happens outside of it.

The following message is an excerpt from an email sent to all AHRI staff by our president and CEO, Stephen Yurek, reaffirming our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respect for others.

"2020 has been a very challenging and unprecedented time for the world, the United States, and for each of you because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I have experienced the heart wrenching sadness and emotion caused by the murder of George Floyd, and the outpouring of this emotion in cities across the country. At a time when fear and division are pervasive in so many aspects of society, the U.S. has reached a pivotal moment.

We also have a responsibility to the community we serve. We do not have answers at this moment. I commit to you, however, that AHRI will take actions. We will ask questions and listen to those who are directly affected by social and economic inequalities, and then develop new education programs to promote diversity and inclusion in our industry and community.

Thank you for your support of one another and know that we are here for each other."
